Recent paintings on Facebook page Paintings by Amanda Barrett

My paintings facebook page is the easiest place to put up recent work and sometimes work in progress. Instagram crops the images which I don’t like so I do not use it as often. It takes a bit longer to post on the website so it does not necessarily have my most recent paintings, its better to like my facebook page then you will get notifications when I post something new…I have embedded my facebook feed in this page

What happens to paintings I don’t like

They tend to hang around for a while, I may put them in a stack then go through them at some point. Occasionally looking through my reject pile I have a surprise and that one I will save and work on, but the others are destined for the bin or recycling. I don’t like to keep paintings I am not happy with so although I may paint a lot I will not necessarily have a large body of work on display/for sale.

Back at Sizewell Beach last Sunday in a perky north easterly...along with the East Suffolk Plein Air Painters (lots of brave painters turned out) I love Sizewell beach its that juxtaposition of industry and nature. Photo of me (wrapped in several layers of insulation) courtesy of Dennis Hales photographer who was taking some great pics.

Started Tuesday sun went in so finished today!

I saw a photograph of this view and liked the angle and luckily I could sit just off the path and get the dip and rise up to the remains of Clare Castle keep.

Six Mile Bottom 1.15pm waiting....
I just love the rail crossing at Six Mile Bottom (and the name!)
there was a station here from 1860's until 1967 now its an empty platform and privately owned house. Why is it called Six Mile Bottom...its in a valley and its 6 miles from the old start of the Newmarket racecourse.
For old british motorbike fans the road on the left is where they road tested Vincents (Black Shadows, Comets and Rapides)
Another bit of trivia... Byron's half sister lived here!

Paintings by Amanda Barrett updated their status.
When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it's been deleted.

Plein Air painting of view of Stanstead Village from Glemsford Church. Loving the angles created by the village layout against the hillside. StanstEAd Village Suffolk is NOT to be confused with Stansted Airport (Note different spelling). I once met someone looking for Stansted Airport who was going to be very late for their flight as the airport is 1 hours drive away 🙁
